CES E-PORTAL ONLINE APPLICATION GUIDE FOR CANDIDATES
Vision
Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-

AE-FUNAI will nurture the spirit of

this end, the curricula to be adopted and lines

seek to address the socio-economic and
environmental issues of the region. Our
University will have strong programmes in the
Sciences, Technology, Humanities and Social
Sciences and Management Sciences.
Objectives
The academic objectives of the University are:
1. To provide access to university
education for qualified candidates
in all the fields of endeavour for
which the University has man date.
2. To act as a centre for teaching,
research and community service
that will lead to the acceleration of
economic and social development
of the catchment areas in particular
and the country in general.

professional programmes leading
to the award of university degrees
and diplomas with the aim of
producing mature graduates that
will compete favourably with
graduates from other world-class

Centre for Educational Services
The Centre for Educational Services Pre-
Degree and JUPEB Programme is an intensive
coaching curriculum aimed at ensuring
adequate exposure to fundamentals of
concepts and preparation of eligible students
for University admission. The JUPEB
Programme is designed to prepare
candidates for external examination
conducted by the Joint Universities
Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB).

Signing Up
To successfully start your Online Application
on the AE-FUNAI CES e-Portal, you will be
required to open an Account by Signing Up.
To Sign Up, visit the AE-FUNAI CES e-Portal
Homepage and click the Sign Up link. You can
also directly access this Sign Up page via the
URL: http://www.ces.funai.edu.ng/sign-up. A
snapshot of the Sign Up page is displayed on
the right-side of this page.
At the Sign Up page, the Candidate will be
required to provide details such as First name,
Middle name, Last name and Email Address.
These details will be used by our system to
generate a unique time-restricted registration
link for the candidate. The candidate receives
this link via email and is expected to utilize it
within 24 hours. The candidate is strongly
advised to check his/her mailbox/spam and
watch out for a mail sent by
webmaster@ces.funai.edu.ng. We also
advise that the candidate add/save the above
mentioned email address to his/her contact
list so as to avoid further interruption of
mail(s) coming from the AE-FUNAI CES
Webmaster.
NOTA BENE
Once the Registration Link sent to you expires
after 24 hours, you will have to go back to the
AE-FUNAI CES e-Portal Sign Up Page and
request for another Registration Link.
As soon as you get the mail containing the
Registration Link from AE-FUNAI CES, you
are now ready to start your Online
Registration. While on the Registration Link,
locate the ‘Start Registration’ button and click
on it to generate your Sign In credentials (see
below section for details of Signing In and
Signing Out).
Provision has been made for instant
correspondence with our Support Staff. This
means that you can keep in touch with a
Signing In
Once the Candidate has completed the Sign
Up process, an automated Application
Number and Password will be generated,
which the Candidate is expected to print out
for future reference. This Application
Number will be used to identify the
Candidate throughout the Pre-
Degree/JUPEB Programme.
The Candidate can then proceed to the Sign
In page where he/she supplies the
generated Application Number and
Password.

Signing Out
The Candidate can pause the Online
Registration process anytime by Signing out
of the e-Portal. This can be done by clicking
on the Sign Out link located on the top bar of
any of the Online Registration forms. The
Sign Out link also ends the Candidate’s
Session on the e-Portal. Nonetheless, when
the candidate is not active for more than 10
minutes, the system automatically locks the
e-Portal temporarily and requests for the
password to confirm the Candidate’s account.
If it happens that the Candidate forgets
his/her Password, he/her can quickly recover
the Password by clicking on the ‘Forgot
Password’ link which can be found on the Sign
In Page.

Phase One
Once the Application No and Password have
been successfully authenticated in the Sign In
page, the system will automatically load the
Candidate’s Information. After the
completion of this loading process, the
Candidate is presented with instructions and
guidelines for the successful completion of
the remaining Online Registration Process.
The Candidate is expected to read and abide
by these stipulated instructions and
guidelines for the programme.
The Phase One of the Online Registration
process is meant to guide the Candidate on
his/her decision on a proposed programme
and course of study. In light of this, the
Candidate is advised to take time and read
through the complete list of courses/subjects
required for the desired programme. After
reading the instructions, the Candidate clicks
the ‘Start Application’ button.

Phase Two
Having clicked the ‘Start Application’ button
located at the bottom of the Phase One page,
the Candidate will be taken to Phase Two
where ‘Personal Information’ is required.
Here, the Candidate actively starts the
Information Supply process. Previous
Personal Information like First name, Middle
name, Last name and Email address which
were earlier supplied by the Candidate in the
Sign Up step, will all be automatically
transferred. These transferred details
however, cannot be edited or changed. The
Candidate will be requested to supply
additional information which were not earlier
supplied and may include the following:
1. Mother’s Maiden Name
2. Title
3. Date of Birth
4. Sex
5. Marital Status
6. Disability
7. Phone No
8. Nationality
9. Country of Residence
10. State of Origin
11. State of Residence
12. Local Government Area
13. Home Town
14. Contact Address
15. Permanent Address
16. Religion
17. Hobbies
18. Full Name (Next of Kin)
19. Occupation (Next of Kin)
20. Contact Address (Next of Kin)
21. Phone No (Next of Kin)
22. Candidate Photo
The Candidate’s Mother Maidens Name will
be used as a security question in a situation
where the Candidate wishes to recover
his/her password. Furthermore, the
Candidate is advised to correctly type his/her
Local Government Area and Home Town as
errors and mistakes will not be tolerated. The
Contact Address should be the address in
which the Candidate currently resides in or an
address in which the Candidate hopes or plans
to reside in while undertaking the programme
at Ebonyi State, Nigeria. Likewise, the
Permanent Address should be the address
where the Candidate’s Parent/Guardian/Next
of Kin currently resides in.
The Candidate’s Profile Photo must not be
larger than 100KB. Good Photo Editors such
as Adobe Photoshop, MS Paint, Corel Draw,
etc. can be used to reduce the size of the
photo if it is larger than 100KB. The Candidate
can also visit http://www.picresize.com and
use its service to resize his/her large-sized
picture. After successfully uploading Passport
Photo, the Candidate clicks the ‘Save
Information’ button and will be automatically
taken to a page where the Candidate will be
required to enter an access PIN.
At this juncture, the Candidate clicks on the
‘How do I get a PIN?’ link, which takes the
Candidate to the Get PIN page, where
instructions on making payment via Remita
can be seen. This payment process is briefly
outlined:
1. Candidate generates Retrieval
Reference Number (RRN) on
Remita.
2. Candidate activates RRN on the
ePortal (This is mandatory).
3. Candidate makes payment in the
bank and within 48 hours (2 working
days), payment will be confirmed
and an automated 16-digit PIN sent
to the Candidate’s mobile phone via
SMS.

instructions on the above steps in the GET PIN
page (as shown on Snapshot 5).
Please be aware that Candidates’ activities on
this AE-FUNAI CES e-Portal are tracked and
recorded for security reasons. The FUNAI ICT
Management shall not tolerate abuse of the
PIN Verification Module System. In view of
this, certain security measures have been put
in place such as:
1. Candidate’s Account temporarily
locked for 10 minutes if he/she
enters a wrong access PIN 3 (three)
times.
2. Candidate’s Account permanently
disabled if he/she enters a wrong
access PIN 5 (five) times.
In essence, the Candidate is advised to enter a
PIN only when he/she receives an SMS alert
from AE-FUNAI CES containing a 16-digit
access PIN. In a situation where the Candidate
has not received an access PIN from AE-
FUNAI CES after 48 hours, the Candidate is
advised to click on the ‘I haven’t received a
PIN’ link and lodge a complaint by uploading
a scanned copy of Payment Document.
When Candidate successfully enters a valid
16-digit access PIN, the system validates the
PIN and automatically takes the Candidate to
Phase Three, where the Candidate will be
required to enter details of Academic
Qualifications as well as uploading
Certificates.

Phase Three
At this Phase, the Candidate is required to
supply details of Schools attended,
Qualifications. Scanned copies of Candidate’s
certificates are also required to be uploaded.
The Candidate should make sure that all
entries supplied in the Schools Attended and
Qualifications section correspond with what
is to be uploaded on the Documents section.
To supply School Information, the Candidate
clicks the ‘Add School’ button on the far right
of the Schools Attended section (as shown in
Snapshot 9). After clicking this button, the
Candidate is taken to a page where he/she
enters the Name of School, Date started and
Date ended. If necessary, the Candidate can
edit his/her entries by clicking on the Edit icon
(having a blue background as shown in
Snapshot 10) and delete his/her entry by
clicking on the Delete icon (having an orange
background as shown in Snapshot 10).
To supply Qualification information, the
Candidate clicks the ‘Add Qualification’
button on the far right of the Qualifications
section (as shown in Snapshot 11). After
clicking this button, the Candidate is taken to
a page where he/she enters Programme,
Year, Subject and Grade. If required, the
Candidate can edit his/her entries by
following steps to edit and delete as
mentioned on the Previous section (Schools
Section).
To upload Document information, the
Candidate must prepare scanned copies of all
certificates and supporting documents and
arranged in the order below:
1. First School Leaving Certificate
2. Certificate WASSCE
3. Certificate SSCE
4. Certificate NECO
5. Certificate GCE
6. Certificate NABTEB
7. Birth Certificate
8. LGA of Origin
Thereafter, the scanned documents are
combined into one PDF file. Care should be
taken to compress all scanned copies so that
the resulting combined PDF file does not
exceed 2 MB. The Candidate should ensure
that scanned or compressed documents are
neat, clear and comprehensible for the
Admission Officer to examine. For support on
combining scanned documents into one PDF
file, please visit http://online2pdf.com and
use its service. After the PDF file has been
prepared, the Candidate clicks the ‘Add
Document’ button on the far right of the
Documents section (as shown in Snapshot
12). After clicking this button, the Candidate
is taken to a page where he/she is given
provision to upload.
After the three sections have been completed
(Schools Attended, Qualifications and
Documents section), the system displays the
last section to be completed which is
choosing a Proposed Programme (Pre-
Degree or JUPEB Programme) and
declaring that the information provided all
through the application process is genuine.
The Candidate then clicks the ‘Submit
Application’ button after going through the
page and confirming that all supplied
information is complete. After clicking this
button, the system collates and all supplied
information, makes necessary operations,
sorts all records, apply proper naming records
and forwards the application to the AE-FUNAI
CES Admission Officer. The Candidate is
taken to a Confirmation Page where he/she
clicks the ‘Continue to Dashboard’ button to
conclude the application.
As soon as the above process has been
completed, the system sends a confirmation
SMS and email to the Candidates mobile
phone and email account. At this juncture, the
Candidate has successfully completed the AE-
FUNAI CES Online Application Form. The
Candidate is advised to routinely sign in to the
AE-FUNAI CES e-Portal and check his/her
Application Status and also check his/her
email for updates on Application. Further
correspondence on Candidate’s Application
will be sent ONLY through SMS and Email.

AE-FUNAI CENTRE FOR EDUCATIONAL SERVICES (AE-FUNAI CES)
The Centre for Educational Services Pre-Degree and JUPEB Programme is an intensive
coaching curriculum aimed at ensuring adequate exposure to fundamentals of concepts
and preparation of eligible students for University admission. The JUPEB Programme is
designed to prepare candidates for external examination conducted by the Joint
Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB).
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into a non-
resident one-year Pre-Degree and 10 months JUPEB programmes of the Alex Ekwueme
Federal University Ndufu-Alike. Details of admission, deadline, choice of course and
programme should be checked at the AE-FUNAI CES Website via
http://www.ces.funai.edu.ng.
